SAMANTHA ♡

I got my very first American Girl Doll in 2001 when I was in 3rd grade. My friends tried to convince me not to get Samantha since they all had her lol. But I got her anyway, because she was my favorite. And I think my mom convinced me not to listen to them lol. Samantha was truly the heart of the company and the face of it for quite a while. I loved her books, her look was similar to my own, and she was artistic like me too!

Unfortunately around 2013, I had to donate my Samantha. Her leg fell off in 2012 when I was trying to take off a rubber American Girl Doll brand rainboot that wasn't actually meant for her feet as it was a newer product and the Pleasant Company foot molds were wider than the newer ones (which I didn't find out until much later). Apparently the company had already switched over from Pleasant Company to Mattel much earlier, but they didn't change things right away, which is why my doll still had the original Pleasant Company stamp on her neck and the softer vinyl. It's why I had the privilege to grow up with Pleasant Company brand furniture that was made of actual wood and iron! Ugh... it was amazing... and I so miss it. I just really loath plastic so much lol. But anyway, I held onto my Samantha for at least a year after her incident, but at that time there was some reason why I wasn't able to get her fixed. Either the hospitals were all closed or there weren't any near us, or my parents couldn't afford it. Either way, my beloved Samantha is gone. And sadly I can't even find any photos of her. If only I had know how easy it would have been for me to fix her myself from home. ♥

I think it was a year or two after I had gotten Samantha that I got Molly, but after a short time, I realized she wasn't really my style or preference in a doll. I'm not really sure why I had asked for her in the first place if it was such an uncertain decision. I think I had just wanted to get a friend for Samantha since I had no one to play with (my friends only collected). Now that I customize dolls, I wish I had held onto her too, because I could have turned her into anything I wanted, aside from the face mold. However, I "have" technically found a way to even mold a Classic Mold into looking more similar to a Josephina-esque Mold. Anything is possible now... Except for a time turner.

KAILEY ♡

In 2003, Kailey was doll of the year, and I fell in love her as soon as I saw her! Particularly her sun-bleached hair with those striations of various light and dark blondes and golds. I still have her to this day and I took amazing care of her so she'd stay and beautiful condition.

In I think high school, the word was passed around that dolls were for kids or girls (as if that was a bad thing). And so I held onto them because I couldn't part with them, but I didn't really want to showcase them either. I kept them in storage... but I hate storing things I don't use, so I gave the bins to my mom for safe keeping. I feel really bad that my past child self felt that way and let other peoples' opinions get to me. I missed out on a lot throughout the years... all the fun of getting to look through the magazines and picking out what I wanted each year... getting to look forward to seeing all the new arrivals! No more adding to my collection until 2021 when I finally embraced myself & stopped caring ♥

My Wish List ♡

At one time I wanted to have all the face molds in all the skin tones and with all the eye types, brow styles, & hair colors. But then I realized that I'd have too many lol... for me at least, as I like to be able to really connect with my dolls.

I do want Corinne, but I'm hoping that AG will evolve their CYO so that we could choose ANY face, with ANY eye type, and ANY brow style in any skin tone. That way I could choose the lightest #5 skin tone for her instead, or a lighter one if they decided to create another grade lighter. And I'd finally be able to give her green eyes!

I also am a Simmer lol, so for anyone familiar with the Sims 4, you may agree with me how amazing it would be if we could move our choice of eyebrow up or down, drag it inward or outward, or even angle them upward or downward on the face in the Evolved CYO system I envision. For my Corinne, I'd lower the brows & scooch them a bit closer toward each other.

If AG started using Henlon Fiber instead for their wigs, then I'd love a slinky straight long bob blonde wig with highlights for her. But I doubt they'll switch to the softer fiber sadly, so I think it'd be nice if they at least added the option to create a doll as bald. And that if you choose for your doll to not have a wig, then you won't have to pay for the wig. And if you don't want any of the accessories or the apparel, then you could opt out of those as well and not have to pay for their costs either.

I know there's a lot of controversy over the makeup as well. Some love it & some hate it. So I think it'd be super smart if they created an option in the CYO system to choose whether you want eye makeup or not. If you did want it, you could choose (so far) the Truly Me/World By Us style of lashes or the Nanea/Corinne style. I hope they design more eyelash styles to mimic the vinyl ones a lot of people like to use, or even just simple cat liner in varying density. For Corinne, I'd go with a thicker liner.

Another girl on my wish list is Claudie! I'll be getting her very soon! I may at some point get a #30 Makena, Sonali, & Addy but not sure yet. But I do know that at some point I would love to have a Jess mold in my collection. But again, I'm kinda just waiting for AG to evolve their CYO so I could give mine different eyebrows & eye makeup lol.

Since I like for my dolls to kina match each other for consistency and not outshining each other, sadly my Lea feels kinda plain next to my other girls. So I may get a TM #108 & give her Lea's eyes, or make her into a mini me and give her a brown wig with bangs & nerdy glasses. All I know is I do want one of my dolls to have Lea Decals & Caroline Decals... I just don't know who would look best with them yet, especially since there are only so many Truly Me's and so many molds - it's way too easy to overlap & I do my best to avoid such so each of my dolls can be easily distinguished from each other & thus feel like a unique individual.
